De ESWC zit er al weer op voor dit jaar. Toch konden we de wereldkampioen, a.k.a Bergie, strikken voor een interview over zijn resultaat op de ESWC en toekomstige plannen. Veel leesplezier!

Frederik "Bergie" Bergmann

1. Hi Bergie and welcome to the interview. Can  you please introduce yourself for the readers?

Hello! My name is Fredrik 'Bergie' Bergmann, I am 19 years old and I play for Team Dignitas.

2. How did you start playing trackmania ?

I started playing when a few friends of mine were talking about this insanely fun racing game at school. They wanted me to try it as well and so I did, and now I am the world champion.

3. You recently won the ESWC. How was the finals? How was the organisation of ESWC itself?

Obviously the finals were great as I won the whole damn thing. The final itself was very intense and close, and to be honest it could have gone either way, however fortunately for me I managed to grab the win and the grand prize of $8000. The organisation of the event itself was decent, but I think they could have done it better.

The breakfast was terrible and the convention room where the tournament was being played was not too good to be honest.

4. Would the result be different if Frostbeule and Karjen attended the ESWC?

That is a question that will never be answered, and to be honest I do not care. They were both not there so I do not want to discuss whether the result would be different if they were attending. I guess we will have to wait and see at WCG if Frostbeule will make a difference.

5. After this ESWC victory, what are you future plans? Will we see more Bergie action in big tournaments like Xlparty, Dreamhack,TeX and The Gathering and maybe FOM in Belgium if it will provide a cash price again?

I always have a desire of travelling around and attending events, however it is not up to me whether I can do that every single time there is a tournament abroad. The next event for me will be World Cyber Games 2010 in LA, USA, and maybe you will see me in Sweden for DreamHack Winter 2010 in November.

6. Our final question. What do you think of the belgian scene in Trackmania?

I think the belgian scene has had its peak in 2006/2007, and the last couple of years it has been going downward. There are not that many good players in Belgium these days, however there are a few players who can cause some upsets on a good day. LLL picking up a team ( two players ) is a big step in the right direction though!

7. Ok then. Thx for the interview Bergie. Any shoutouts?

Shoutout to Pezi, my homey who had a great event in Paris! Thanks to all who support me and Team Dignitas, thanks to Team Dignitas and their sponsors for making these events possible for me to attend: Intel, Alienware, Antec, Iiyama, Western Digital, EA Sports, SCAN, Logitech, HMV Gamerbase and Creative
